Crankcase
Crankcase assemblies are overhauled in accordance with our "endurance" programme. Many crankcases have been overhauled several times and fatigue cracks can develop in areas of high stress. Our "endurance" crankcase overhaul programme minimises the risk of post overhaul cracking. Problems such as bearing tunnel misalignment, deck height and surface irregularities can prevent an engine from making full power and reduce the working life of an engine. To ensure the power section of our engines perform correctly, we machine our overhauled cases to correct any defects.
Air Flowed Cylinders
It has long been recognised throughout the performance engine industry that cylinder port air flow and velocity are critical factors in the successful power output and smooth running of an engine. At Flightline Aviation we are experienced in "flow matching" cylinders and this is a recommended option for our Sapphire™ engines. The overall performance and operating gains have been outstanding.
Engine Balance
Irregular maintenance practices along with general wear and tear during the life of an engine can cause the dynamic and static balance of the rotating and reciprocating components to drift outside the manufacturers tolerances. During overhaul we have the opportunity to correct this imbalance and as part of the Sapphire™ rebuild programme, we take absolute care to ensure that all engine parts are balanced to the manufacturers new tolerances. In fact, we have our own set of exact standards that we ensure are met during the assembly and testing of our rebuilt engines.
Warranty
When you purchase a Sapphire™ premium rebuilt engine, you have the assurance that the engine is covered by the Sapphire™ comprehensive warranty package - 24 months or 1000 hours on labour defects (excluding engines used for aerobatic, mustering, or agricultural work which have a maximum warranty of 12 months).
